IOTA was commissioned by the Hyland Edgar Driver Landscape Architects to supply extra large custom planters for this designer outlet mall in Banbridge, North Ireland. The mall comprises 78 shop units on an outdoor site, including Armani, Calvin Klein, Joseph, Ghost and Jaeger. Planters were the only form of soft landscaping used within this prestigious development. IOTA’s Granite containers were chosen to reinforce the upmarket shopping environment, and a mixture of stock lines and larger bespoke sizes were used (totalling 234 pieces).
The pots not only bring colour and interest but also play a central role in defining different areas within the mall and directing customer flow. For example, magnificent 1100mm high Tall Taper marked the colonnaded main entrance. A row of the same planters show the way from the car park to the entrance. Pairs of smaller planters frame and signpost the doorways to every shop. Finally, lines of bespoke 1200mm troughs add structure and interest within the open avenues of the mall.
