2020 wasn’t a great year for everyone. On the bright side, this pandemic helped some of us reconnect and spend more time with our families, and enjoy bonding. Some started to grow their own crops, some started flower gardens, and some who don’t have enough space started their own indoor container garden.
For this year, let’s look at what’s shaping up to be the top 2021 landscaping trends.
Sophisticated Hardscape Patterns
Architectural concrete will continue to rise in popularity this year. Combining plants and the classic look of concrete will provide good beautiful lines and clean edges. Concrete planters will look good with concrete pavings.
Lighting Effects
Partnered with sophisticated hardscape patterns, lighting will be a great way of illuminating and highlighting focal points in your design. Use LED lighting to save on electricity. You can even go with solar-powered lights.
Using Native Plants
Native plants are attuned to the conditions in your area. It will thrive easier in your garden compared to imported plants. Most native plants also don’t require much maintenance. Planting native plants can also preserve the biodiversity of native plants in your area.
Vegetable Gardens
Because of the pandemic, many have adopted the ideology of growing their own food. And it’s a good idea. Potted herbs are also a great thing. And who says plating vegetables don’t look good? Have you ever seen tomato plants full of ripe fruit?
Outdoors as Extension of Indoors
This will actually provide a great way of showing the flow of your whole lot. A connection between your indoors and outdoors can also promote great airflow.
Also because of the pandemic, we look into our outdoor areas and think of how we can make them more usable. Pretty sure that outdoor kitchens and barbecue areas would be a hit.
