IOTA shows how using planters to define space can yield an attractive result. IOTA’s Venice lightweight concrete trough planters were recently commissioned for a parking lot project in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane. The results speak for themselves.
Using planters not only helped define the space but also served as a barrier to the low growing shrubs in the area. The concrete planters made a subtle contrast to the landscape. Being a parking area, there is the possibility for it to be an eyesore as it is dominated by hardscape materials. However, the container planting and some more ground planted shrubs did a good job of providing enough green to soften the landscape and made the development more appealing to the eye.
Fun fact: Did you know that plants in urban development are not just beautiful to look at but also have a range of other benefits including cooler urban air temperature and lower energy consumption?
